How to reach – The temple has a route of less than 10 minutes from Vijayawada railway station as well as bus stand.
Historical Reference – Mentioned in various Hindu scriptures such as Kaalika Purana and Durga Sapthashati.
What Vedas says – The deity in the Vijayawada Kanakdurga temple is regarded as ‘Swayambhu’ i.e., self-manifested.
Durga Temple Timing – For all the days except Thursday the temple is open from 9 am to 4 pm but on Thursdays, the temple is open from 4 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm.

If you are visiting Vijayawada for pilgrim then the temple is a must visit sight for you. Among all Vijayawada temples, the Kanaka Durga temple is the one which is not only pious but also beautiful and picturesque because of its location. There are different theories and legends associated with the temple including Lord Shiva, Arjuna (one of the Pandavas), etc.

Goddess Durga here is the Devi of power and riches. The temple in its heart has a four foot high idol of goddess decorated with glittering ornaments and is depicted in a standing posture over the Mahishashura(Demon). The idol of goddess is shown with eight hands carrying different weapons. Inside the main area there are three shrines situated separately for Sri Malleshwara Swamyvaru, Sri Natraj Swami and Sri Subramanyeshwara Swami.

Vijayawada Kanak Durga temple has a rich history and therefore even if you are less of devotee but more of a history freak or someone who is interested in the historical and mythological happening then also you can pay a visit to the temple.
