This is an interesting feature of IRCTC and many passengers are using this facility to sleep peacefully during travel. It is very easy to set wake up alarm alert from your mobile phone only you need to dial 139 on your mobile phone and select the option for ‘Destination Alert’ on the recorded Voice. This is a free service offered by Indian railways department only call and SMS charges are applicable according to respective mobile operators.

Railway Passengers can set destination alarm by Sending SMS on 139 or Call on 139 and select the option of Destination Alert

Steps for Activating Destination Alert Through Mobile Phone:

• Dial 139 from the Mobile in which you want to set Destination Alert
• Then select your preferred language
• Select option 7 from the main menu
• Then Press -2 for setting Destination Alert
• Enter your correct 10 digit PNR number and then press 1 to confirm your PNR number on mobile

• Passengers can also set destination alert alarm by sending SMS. It is very simple, only you need to type
  ALERT then it to 139.

Steps for Activating Destination Alert With Customer Service Executive

• Dial 139 from your mobile phone.
• Tell your 10 digit PNR number.
• Confirm your mobile number in which you want to set Wake-up Alarm
• After that customer service executive will confirm you that the Wake-up Alarm has been set.
• Within a second you will receive a message that confirms that your wake up alarm is set. For example “WAKE-UP ALARM call has been set on you mobile number for < Destination Station Name>

Charges For IRCTC Destination Wake Up Alarm Alert:

IRCTC destination wake up alarm alert is absolutely free but following call charges are applicable:
When you will call on 139 then Rs. 1.20 for a pulse of 60 seconds will be deducted from your mobile in Metro cities. From nonmetro cities/areas, Rs. 2 for a pulse of 60 seconds will be deducted from your mobile phone.

SMS cost for sending a request for IRCTC Destination Wake Up Alarm Alert will be charged is Rs. 3 per SMS.
