Ujjain city is the largest city in the Ujjain District. It is situated in the Heart of India Madhya Pradesh and it is known for its various tourist’s attractions such as temples etc. This city is considered to be one of the holiest city in India. This city was once capital of an ancient province of Avanti.

This city is situated near the eastern bank of Shipra river which falls under the Malwa region. The main attraction is that this city is one of the four places for the Kumbh Mela, which is the largest peace gathering of people from across the world which attracts over 100 million people to the festival.

Ujjain is the most significance, especially for Hindus. Ujjain is also a Home for Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, This Jyotirlinga is nothing but the shrine of which is the representation of the Supreme Lord Shiva. This Jyotirlinga is also known as Ujjain Simhastha.

Ujjain is one of the most glorious and ancient cities in India, Not only that but it is also known as the educational hub for many of the scholars in India.

Ujjain City

This ancient city is very rich in terms of Religion, Architecture and educational values make this a top attraction not only among Indian Tourists but foreign tourists also.

There are so many places to visit in Ujjain, But before taking the look up on those we will see how you can reach this city and plan your trip accordingly.

If you plan to take a flight then you need to understand that there is no Ujjain Airport. so you will need to travel to Indore via flight and then with the help of road commute you can easily reach the Ujjain.

Once you have reached Indore you can either opt for Bus or train or you can just take a car on rent to travel to Ujjain. Roughly the Indore to Ujjain distance by road is around 60Kms.

So if you are planning to there by road then it will take you two hours to reach there. You can even just go to the Indore Railway station and just board Indore to Ujjain Train. Along with this you also have the option to just take a bus which will also take the same time but the cost of your travel would be a lot cheaper.

So that’s how you can reach the Ujjain city whenever you are visiting from the south or south west part of India. If you are coming from the North region, Then if you are opting for Flights then again you need to land at Indore Airport and then carry on your journey from there like I have mentioned above. If you are planning a road trip here then just to tell you it will be a long drive for around 12 hours. So I guess it would be convenient to commute using the public transportation like buses and trains. If you are planning on using trains then you can directly go to the Ujjain Station as there are many trains available from north of India to Ujjain.

The Indore airport is also connected to Bhopal Airport, so you can also use Airways to travel to Indore and then to Ujjain. Not only Airways will help you get there, but the trains also are very useful for easy commute, without going to Indore you can just drop off at the Ujjain station itself and start your spiritual journey right away.

Before Planning a trip there I would Highly recommend you to check the weather, If you are visiting in the winter then you should carry some warm clothing as it gets very cold during the night time. Also, I would advise you to not to take your younger children with you during the period of Kumbh Mela as the place is extremely crowded there might be a possibility that your child might get lost, So I think it would be better if you would wash your sins without losing your child.

Now you know how you can easily reach the Ujjain now it’s time to take a look at different places and things which you can do in this city.
