IRCTC EMI Option – Now Book Indian Railway Train Ticket in Installments

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation took an interesting step to increase the revenue of railways department. It ties up with Citibank and introduced an IRCTC EMI Option system for Indian railways ticket bookings on IRCTC website. This step is providing relief for those people who cannot afford the train ticket of long distance journeys or tickets of premium trains.

Recently, the government of India had introduced special Holiday trains to meet the requirement of huge rush during the holiday season. But they charged almost three times of the normal fare. In that case, passenger is having not been happy. To resolve this problem IRCTC introduced EMI in which passengers can buy expensive train tickets on EMI. Nowadays everything is available on EMI, so railways department also think to add this feature in tickets also. This feature brings a smile on those faces that are enabled to buy tickets of luxury trains. But there are some limitations in the scheme and it is not very popular among Indian citizens.

How to Avail the EMI Facility for Booking Train Tickets?

Now it is very easily to book a train ticket online with an EMI. This facility is only available in e-ticket booking. So now when you log in to your IRCTC account for booking a train ticket online, you will see an additional option except the credit card booking, debit card booking, and Net banking options. To buy train ticket by an EMI is as simple as buy ticket online.

Here we mentioned the procedure to buy an online ticket with an IRCTC EMI Option:

  1. If you have an IRCTC account then login in it otherwise creates your account on IRCTC official website.
  2. Enter all the required information in the form of passenger name, age, gender etc.
  3. Then click on the EMI option
  4. Fill your credit card details
  5. Ticket amount will deduct from your credit card account.
  6. After that your bank will release that amount into the form of monthly instalments.

Limitations of IRCTC EMI Option:

There are some limitations in booking ticket by an EMI such as:

The EMI facility is only available for those people who have Citibank credit cards at the moment. Only Citibank credit card holder can avail this facility.

As only Citibank is involved in this process therefore only a few people are using this facility. Soon government of India will tie-up with other banks so that large group of people can utilize this facility.

IRCTC EMI Option is only available with e-ticket booking.
